PPC landing page mistakes that waste the click

PPC landing page mistakes are expensive because you pay for the click before the page fails. The visitor arrived with one promise in mind. If the page offers a tour of the company, the money is gone. This note is the short list we see on paid traffic. A wider list, including pages that are not ads, is in typical landing page mistakes and in mistakes to avoid.

We build the page. We do not sell the ads, and we do not promise a conversion rate. The service is landing page setup.

The headline does not match the ad

If the advert says emergency call-out, the page cannot open with a welcome and a history. The visitor thinks they clicked the wrong result. Repeat the offer in the first line, in ordinary words. That is message match. It is the first check, and it is free.

Too many next steps

Call, email, brochure, blog, about, and a second offer in the hero. The click had one job. Give it one button. Other services can live in the footer or on the main site. One offer is spelled out in one-offer landing pages. Sending people to the homepage instead is the homepage used as a landing page.

The form asks for too much

Name and phone are often enough for a quote. Address, budget, how they heard of you, and a paragraph, on a phone, in the rain, will lose people who were ready to talk. Ask what you need to reply. Ask the rest on the call. A thank-you line should confirm the message left, so they do not tap twice.

The page is slow or slippery

A huge picture, a chat widget and three tracking scripts can make the button late. Most of these clicks are on a phone. The button should be visible without a hunt. Speed for paid traffic is covered in page speed. If the number is text inside a picture, it will not dial.

Check the page on the same phone your customers use, with the data connection on, not only on office wifi. If the first screen is a menu and a slideshow, the advert has nowhere to land. A second offer can wait until after the first action, or it can have its own URL.

Proof that is not true

Stars, doubled enquiries, and a first name with an initial are not proof. If you have a real comment, use it with permission. If you do not, leave the space empty or show the work. We will not write a review for you. A false claim on a paid page is also a compliance problem, which is why UK ad pages and claims belongs next to this list.

What we charge to build the page

Starter is £150 and is usually ready within 3 to 5 working days of the content. Business is £295, with fuller copy, extra sections and analytics, typically 7 to 10 working days. Premium is £495 and adds a second variant so you can test one change, plus priority on revisions. The first year of domain, hosting and SSL is included when we arrange them. Year two is £60 to the providers. The studio is at 109A Brighton Road, Coulsdon, CR5 2NG. The work is remote.

What to send

Send the advert and the URL it currently opens. We will say whether the page can be edited or needs replacing, and which package matches. We will not guess a return. We will name the mistake we can see.

Frequently asked questions

Can you run the ads as well?

No. We build the page the ad opens. You or your ads person keep the campaign.

Will a new page guarantee cheaper clicks?

No. A clearer page can waste fewer of the clicks you already bought. The auction still sets the price.

How fast can Starter be live?

Most Starter pages are ready within 3 to 5 working days of the words and pictures.
