Typical landing page mistakes show up in the same order. The headline does not say the offer. The page offers several next steps. The form asks for a life story. The proof is a star rating nobody can trace. None of that needs a foreign-language checklist. The faults are ordinary, and the fixes are ordinary too.
This note is the general list. If the traffic is paid, the shorter list is PPC landing page mistakes. An older version of the same idea is ten mistakes to avoid. Using the homepage as the destination is covered on its own in what not to use as the landing page.
A headline that could belong to anyone
"Quality service you can trust" could sit on a plumber, a salon or a solicitor. The visitor still does not know the offer. Say the job, the area if it matters, and the next step. If an advert sent them, repeat the advert's promise. That is message match. A clever line that hides the offer is a mistake, even when it looks polished.
Too many choices
Call, email, download, book, and a second product in the hero. The page is asking the visitor to design the journey. One action is enough. Other services belong on other URLs, or in the footer after the first job is done. One offer per page is the whole rule. A menu of equal buttons is the homepage problem again.
A form that is longer than the decision
Name and a way to reply are often enough. Address, budget, company size and a paragraph, before anyone has spoken, will lose people who were ready to talk. Ask what you need for the next reply. Ask the rest on the call. How many fields is too many is spelled out in form friction. A thank-you line should confirm the message left.
Proof that cannot be checked
Five stars, a first name with an initial, and a claim that enquiries doubled are not proof. If you have a real comment and permission to use it, use it. If you do not, leave the space empty. We will not write a review, and we will not invent a percentage. A false claim is also a problem on paid pages, which is why claims and privacy sits next to design. An example layout should be labelled as an example.
A page that ignores the phone
Most of these visits are on a phone. A button below a tall photograph, a number trapped in a picture, and a form that needs two thumbs and a zoom, are all the same mistake. The action has to be easy to hit. See the thumb zone. Speed belongs in the same check. A slow first screen wastes a visit you may have paid for. Page speed is part of the page, not a later tidy-up.
What a replacement page costs
Starter is £150 and is usually ready within 3 to 5 working days of the words and pictures. Business is £295, with fuller copy, extra sections and analytics, typically 7 to 10 working days. Premium is £495, with a variant to test and priority support. The first year of domain, hosting and SSL is included when we set them up. Year two is £60 to the providers. Your own hosting can stay yours. The studio is at 109A Brighton Road, Coulsdon, CR5 2NG. Work is remote across the UK. There is no monthly care fee hiding under the build price. Details are on services.
What to send
Send the page, or the advert and the URL. We will name the mistake we can see and the package that matches. We will not guess a conversion rate. If you are choosing who should build it, start with how to choose a designer and what setup includes.
Frequently asked questions
Is a long page always a mistake?
No. Length is fine when each section answers a real question. Five equal buttons in the first screen is the mistake.
Should every page have reviews?
Only real ones, with permission. An empty proof section is better than a made-up one.
Do you fix the ads as well?
No. We build or edit the page. You or your ads person keep the campaign.
